I have written this poem for one of the finest people I have met in my life - Mahima. She is my friend and my soul sister. Since the time I have started writing, she has been asking me to write a poem for her. Firstly, I laughed and thought she must be kidding. But later, I came to know that she was serious about it. Today is her birthday and I have tried to scribble few lines for her. Mahi, may be it is not as good as you expected, but you know, my feelings behind every word are true.
So many
people we come across in our lives
Some walk
with us a few steps and some a few miles
Only a
few leave their footprints on our heart
Which
remain there forever no matter how far we part
You are
one of those to me, Mahi.
People
may miss judge you as a facetious person
As you are
many a time joking and kidding around
A few
have known the mature, calm and loving you
I am glad
I have met that unseen side of you.
In you, I
have seen the most patient of all
The one
who will bounce back if there is a fall
You are
the one living with the truest spirit
Spreading
happiness around with no limit
I have
seen your tearful eyes when I cried
In you
all my secrets confide
I have
seen your laughing with my laughter
With you everything
seemed much brighter
Our
lengthy talks when we pour our heart out
And feel
so relaxed as if there is no doubt
We have
done all the crazy things together
Those
times are memories forever
Every
morning, as it was the most important task
“Geevi, what
are we going to eat today?” you’d ask
Now, there
is no one to tempt me for the tasteless food
Pizza,
noodles or dosa nothing now tastes as good
You used
to say – “Wow! Geevi you are so intelligent.”
Did not
matter if it was ever relevant
And I was
always ready to answer this as we knew
But now I
can’t reply – “haina!” as I used to
Now as
you have gone so far
Nothing
can ever be the same as it was
No one
can know what is going inside me as you could
No one
can read my face as you would
Whenever
I think of piglet and Pooh
It
reminds me of us – me and you
Distance
can never made us part
You will always
have a special place in my heart
There can
be some relationships so strong
Not by blood yet they last lifelong
You are a
friend, a motivator
Mahi, we
